Welcome to the Christian Career Women Blog!! I am so happy that you found your way here. Launching a community for Christian working women has been on my heart for several years and I’m so blessed that God has brought us to this time and place.
A little about me – I’m a Christ follower, a wife, a stepmom, a runner, a road warrior, and a breast cancer survivor. By day, I’m an attorney in Government Affairs for a Fortune 250 company. By night, I’m a Women’s Leadership Speaker and Coach who is passionate about helping high achieving women to show up, speak up and step up in their careers.
I’ve spent close to 20 years in the workforce and I know what it’s like to climb up the career ladder – a climb that comes with many highs and lows. I’ve dealt with promotions and job loss; good bosses and bad managers; collaborative colleagues and mean co-workers. You get the idea.
When I became a Christian, I had a hard time aligning my life as a working woman with my faith.
I didn’t speak about my accomplishments because I didn’t want to be boastful.
I didn’t pursue higher visibility assignments because I wanted to be humble.
I didn’t want to ask for a raise because I didn’t want to be greedy.
Ultimately, I believed that seeking a promotion at work would lead to compromising my values.
I once heard that we teach what we need to learn. So, it’s no surprise that after I earned my certification in Christian coaching, I focused my practice on helping women to develop leadership skills and navigate workplace dynamics.
As I dug into the Bible to help other women, I started to discover God’s truth for women in the workplace.
As I helped the Christian working women that I was coaching to apply these biblical principles, they began to bring their best selves to work. Many developed better relationships with their bosses and colleagues, others started to get credit for their work and many earned promotions. And by the way – I did, too 🙂
All that to say, it is clear that in today’s competitive business environment, Christian working women face unique challenges when it comes to getting ahead in the workplace. We don’t want to get ahead in our careers at the expense of our core values. As a result, we often go to great lengths to avoid taking risks and we question whether engaging in competitive dynamics to advance our careers is something a “good Christian girl” would do.
While advice to help today’s working women get ahead in the workplace crops up in the news, in research, and even on social media, the voices speaking directly to Christian career women are few. The purpose of this blog is to equip Christian career women with the skills, tools, and scriptural principles to help them navigate the expectations of the workplace as they aspire, achieve and thrive in their careers and personal lives.
