As Christian career women, we make decisions all day long — often without even realizing it.
What to wear.
What to say in that meeting.
Whether to volunteer for that project.
Whether to respond — or stay silent.
Whether to push through exhaustion or finally rest.
Most of these decisions feel small. But over time? They shape your reputation, your influence, your family culture, and your spiritual life.
That blazer you throw on becomes part of your brand.
That article you read sharpens your expertise.
That boundary you set protects your peace.
Boss lady moves aren’t made in one dramatic moment. They’re made in quiet, everyday choices.
The question is: Are our choices aligned with God?
Because ambition isn’t the problem. Direction is.
Here’s how we make bold moves without losing our spiritual footing.
1. Pray First — Not Last
As high-achieving women, our instinct is to analyze.
We create pros and cons lists.
We call three friends.
We Google.
We strategize.
Prayer often becomes the last step — the spiritual “stamp of approval.”
But Scripture flips that order.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6)
Submission doesn’t mean passivity. It means partnership.
Before you accept that promotion.
Before you send that email.
Before you confront that colleague.
Pause.
James 1:5 reminds us:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
You don’t have to hustle for clarity. You can ask for it.
Boss lady move #1? Pray first.
2. Count the Cost (Because Credibility Matters)
Every opportunity has a price tag.
More money might mean less margin.
More visibility might mean more pressure.
More responsibility might mean less flexibility.
Jesus teaches us to count the cost before building:
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost…?” (Luke 14:28–30)
As Christian career women, we are building towers every day:
- A leadership reputation
- Financial stability
- A strong marriage
- A thriving family
- A deeper walk with God
But here’s the truth: Not every tower is meant for this season.
Counting the cost means asking:
- What will this require of me?
- Do I have the capacity to sustain it?
- What might this cost my health, family, or spiritual life?
- Am I willing to pay that price?
Because starting something you cannot sustain impacts your credibility — at work and at home.
Boss lady energy is bold.
Godly wisdom is measured.
You need both.
3. Don’t Decide in Isolation
You are strong.
You are capable.
You are resourceful.
But you are not meant to do life alone.
Proverbs 15:22 says:
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”
Yes, God is your primary Counselor. Scripture is your foundation.
And sometimes the Bible gives crystal-clear guidance. Integrity is not negotiable. Character is not optional.
Other times, you’re navigating gray areas:
- Should I relocate?
- Should I pivot careers?
- Should I launch the business?
- Should I walk away?
That’s when wise counsel matters.
Seek out:
- A spiritually mature woman
- A mentor who understands your field
- A friend who will tell you the truth
- Someone who will pray with you — not just advise you
Not everyone gets access to your decision-making process. Protect that space.
Boss lady move #3? Build a circle that sharpens you.
The Bigger Picture
Five years from now, your life will reflect the decisions you’re making right now.
Not just the big ones — the daily ones.
The discipline to grow.
The integrity to walk away from compromise.
The courage to obey when it costs you something.
The humility to ask for help.
Christian career women don’t shrink their ambition.
We refine it.
We align it.
We surrender it.
Because real success isn’t just about titles and income. It’s about living and leading in a way that honors your faith, supports your personal life, and sustains your well-being.
That’s the difference between boss moves and boss lady moves & godly choices.
And that’s the kind of leadership that lasts.
Reflection
Before you make your next big (or small) decision, ask yourself:
- Have I truly prayed about this?
- Have I counted the real cost?
- Have I invited wise counsel into this process?
You can be bold.
You can be strategic.
You can be influential.
And you can be deeply anchored in Christ while doing it.
That’s power — God’s way.
