Fall is in full swing, sis — the lattes are pumpkin-y, the sweaters are cozy, and your to-do list? Probably giving Book of Revelation vibes (lots going on, a little chaotic, and slightly apocalyptic).
Between your boss needing “just one more thing,” your church asking for volunteers, and your family reminding you it’s your turn to bring the casserole, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. But here’s the truth: as Christian career women, we’re not called to do everything — we’re called to do the right things.
Our peace comes not from productivity, but from purpose. So this October, let’s take a breath, lift our eyes to heaven, and get serious about setting priorities that align with God’s plan (and protect our sanity).
1. Pray Before You Plan
Before you color-code that planner or open your Google Calendar, pause and pray. Ask God:
“Lord, what do You want me to focus on this season?”
Prayer isn’t just a spiritual practice — it’s your divine strategy session. When you invite God into your planning, He’ll show you which doors to walk through and which ones to lovingly close.
Let’s be real: not every “good” opportunity is a God opportunity. Some things sound impressive but lead to burnout, not blessing. When you start your day (or week) in prayer, you’re setting your schedule to His rhythm — not the world’s chaos.
2. Plan with Purpose (Not Pressure)
Once you’ve prayed, it’s time to plan — intentionally. Look at your commitments through the lens of your calling, not your comfort zone.
Ask yourself:
- Does this align with my values and faith?
- Will it help me grow in my God-given purpose?
- Is this something I’m doing out of obedience… or out of obligation?
Faith and relationships are your natural top priorities — that’s by design. Everything else should flow from those two foundations. Your work, your goals, your service — they should all support your faith, not compete with it.
When you plan your week, make space for what fuels your soul: your quiet time with God, worship, fellowship, and rest. Because productivity without peace isn’t success — it’s stress with a cute outfit.
3. Prioritize with the 4P Framework
Here’s your new holy filter for life: The 4Ps — Purposeful, Productive, Personal, and Peripheral.
Start by asking if what’s on your plate is Purposeful. Does it align with your calling and values? These are the things that draw you closer to God’s plan — serving others, using your gifts, and living your “why.”
Then, check if it’s Productive. Just because it keeps you busy doesn’t mean it bears fruit. Productive priorities are those that move you closer to your goals — professionally, spiritually, or emotionally.
Next, make sure it’s Personal. You are not a robot in heels, sis. Personal priorities nurture your faith, body, and relationships. That means time with God, time for your health, and time for the people who matter most.
Finally, identify what’s Peripheral — the stuff that feels important but doesn’t serve your purpose or peace. That meeting that could’ve been an email? Peripheral. The endless Instagram scroll? Peripheral. Saying yes when you should’ve prayed first? Definitely peripheral.
When you filter your choices through these 4Ps, you’ll find yourself walking in divine order — less overwhelm, more obedience, and way more peace.
4. Bonus Tip: Build Margin Like Jesus Did
Even Jesus took time to rest. (Yes, the Savior of the world took naps. Let that sink in.)
You need margin — white space on your calendar, time to breathe, time to reflect. Rest isn’t laziness; it’s obedience. It’s saying, “Lord, I trust You enough to stop striving.”
When you make room for rest, reflection, and restoration, you’ll start to notice your priorities aligning naturally — your energy rising, your joy returning, and your peace overflowing.
Final Thoughts
This month, challenge yourself to stop chasing balance and start seeking alignment.
When your priorities reflect your faith, your values, and your purpose, life feels lighter — not because it’s easier, but because it’s ordered.
So, pray before you plan, plan with purpose, and prioritize with peace.
And remember, sis: You are not behind. You are right where God needs you to be — now go out there and walk in your calling with confidence and grace.
Because when your life is aligned with God’s priorities, you don’t just manage your time — you magnify His glory.
